Former Indian opener and current cricket expert Aakash Chopra has criticized captain Hardik Pandya for not giving Akshar Patel a single over in the second T20 against West Indies.
India played three spinners Akshar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravi Bishnoi in this match played in Guyana, but Akshar did not get a chance to bowl a single over during the entire match. In such a situation, the former player has vented his anger on Hardik Pandya.
Akash Chopra says that if you do not want Akshar to bowl then why are you playing him? In fact, West Indies’ playing XI has a total of four left-handed batsmen in the form of Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, and Akil Hussain, who come to bat at different positions.
In such a situation, Hardik Pandya did not allow him to bowl even a single over. Akash Chopra said on his YouTube channel, ‘Akshar Patel was not given a single over. My question is if Akshar Patel is not bowling because you have got a left-hand batsman in front of you then Kyle Mayers comes in the beginning then Nicholas Pooran comes then Shimran comes and finally Akil Hossain then he is a Will not throw overs either.
He further said ‘If he is not going to bowl then why are you playing him? You don’t use your sixth bowler at all. I am a bit surprised… a left-arm bowler can bowl against a left-arm batsman.
Akil Hussain did it against Tilak Verma and got him out as well, but we didn’t get Akshar to bowl. Akash further said, ‘Akshar Patel got two overs in the last match as well, not a single over in this match. Akshar Patel is not playing as a batsman, is he? This is actually a mistake.
