Ravindra Jadeja hasn’t been in the best of form in IPL 2022 as he struggled with both the ball and the ball. He was handed the captaincy by MS Dhoni just before the season. But under his captaincy, Chennai Super Kings won only 2 out of 8 matches played. Jadeja could not handle the pressure and handed the captaincy back to MS Dhoni.
Jadeja is out of CSK’s match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, two matches after Dhoni was handed the captaincy back. During the toss, MS Dhoni revealed why Jadeja is not playing tonight. In IPL 2022, Jadeja has been able to score only 126 runs in 10 matches. His average is only 19.33 and his strike rate is only 118.38. Jadeja has also been very poor in bowling. He has taken just 5 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 49.60. In the last two seasons, Jadeja’s form was exceptionally good.
He scored a lot of runs at a very high strike rate. He was maintaining a strike rate of around 200 throughout the tournament. His bowling was good in the last season as well. But this season he has not been able to do anything special. He was not even bowling his 4 overs in the bowling. During the toss against DC, CSK captain MS Dhoni said that “Jaddu is not fit and Dubey comes inside the team.”
On the team’s performance this season, MS said, “Earlier also we had a bad season but we took full advantage of it. It really helped us. When there are some changes after a big auction, sometimes you need to see what is the best combination.” CSK, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders who are multiple times IPL champions, are struggling this season. This could be the result of a new team being raised after the mega auction.
