Rishabh Pant is going through a very rough patch as we can see him not performing well in the white ball format which is raising many questions about him and his place in the playing 11.
However, the team is backing him for so long despite seeing his failure and that’s why few people are criticizing the management for being biased towards Pant as talents like Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are warming the bench now.
Indian stand-in coach VVS Laxman has given a statement backing Pant
In the press conference, he talked about the chances that the team is giving Rishabh Pant and he said that “It’s about giving them opportunities and also informing them whenever they aren’t picked. Pant has been doing well at no.4, not too long ago he scored an important century at Old Trafford.”
He further said that “it’s important to back him. T20 cricket has given batters more confidence about clearing the grounds no matter how big the outfields are, they also work a lot with the range hitting as well.”
Rishabh Pant had a horrible series against New Zealand:
The question over his place in the playing 11 was raised after seeing his performance in the series against New Zealand as he was able to score just 25 runs in the ODI series while he just scored 17 runs in the T20 series.
He was not in the form in the T20 World Cup when he got the chance to represent India in the last 3 matches where he scored 26 against South Africa and 3 & 6 against Zimbabwe and England respectively.
