Ravi Shastri, the former head trainer of the Indian team, abnegated from his post after the end of the T20 World Cup 2021. Team India’s performance in the event was poor, due to which Shastri’s last assignment didn’t come memorable. But no one can deny that former India cricketer Shastri has done a awful job as a trainer. Under his guidance, Team India has won numerous important series both at home and abroad.
Still, Shastri couldn’t get India any ICC title. He has worked nearly with numerous players in the team and will be well apprehensive of their strengths and sins. Shastri has also given the names of those two players, who can come the captain of Team India in future. When asked about the possible captains of India in future, Shastri named Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul.
Shastri’s reflections came while talking about Rahul Dravid, who took over as the head trainer of Team India in November. Shastri told The Indian Express,’Rahul Dravid knows his job. All I want to tell them is that the work should be similar that it’s fun. There’s KL Rahul, who can captain. Shreyas Iyer has good captaincy rates for limited overs cricket.
Both Rahul and Iyer have captained in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and it’ll be intriguing to see who gets a chance to captain the national team. Rahul has been made thevice-captain of the Test team in the absence of Rohit Sharma for the South Africa tour. Iyer, on the other hand, scored a century on his Test debut against New Zealand last month. He was made the captain of IPL team Delhi Capitals in 2019 and led the team to the playoffs.
