What are the rules regarding wide ball:
According to MCC wide ball rule 22.1.2, the ball will be declared wide when it is out of the reach of the batsman. If the batsman can hit a normal cricketing shot then that ball will not be declared wide. 22.1.1 It is the umpire’s job to judge according to the rules. Talking about Virat Kohli, he was standing on the leg stump. When the bowler bowled the ball, he moved towards the off stump and the ball missed the wickets and went into the gloves of the keeper. The umpire did not call it wide.

Umpire Richard Cattlebrough was standing in front of Virat Kohli while he was batting in the 42nd over. After the ball was not declared wide, his reaction also went viral on social media. After not giving the wide ball, as soon as the cameraman angled the camera towards him, he was seen with a slight smile.
