After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title, Virat Kohli is vacationing with his family in London. Team India is visiting Sri Lanka this month. Where the teams will play a 3-match one-day series. There were reports that Virat may be rested before the tour. However, the head coach requested Virat to be available for the series, which Virat accepted.
“Virat Kohli has informed the BCCI that he will be available for the one-day series against Sri Lanka at the request of Gautam Gambhir, as this will be his first series as a coach,” the BCCI said.
BCCI has appointed Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach after Rahul Dravid. He will be seen leading the series for the first time in the tour of Sri Lanka. The team does not want to face disappointment in its first visit. In such a situation, he will try his best to take senior players with him on this tour. The 3-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka is going to start from 27th July.
Suryakumar Jacob has been named the T20I captain for this series while Rohit Sharma will lead the ODI and Test teams as before. Earlier, Suryakumar had captained Team India in T20Is against Australia and South Africa.
