Batting first after winning the toss, West Indies scored 311 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs due to the innings of Shai Hope (115) and Nicholas Pooran (74). In reply, India won by losing 8 wickets with two balls to spare. Apart from Patel, Shreyas Iyer (63) and Sanju Samson (54) also scored half-centuries for India.
