The Indian team has taken the lead of 1-0 in the 3-match ODI series against Srilanka as they won the first match comfortably by a margin of 67 runs. The Sri Lankan batters were not able to keep going as they were giving away wickets at quick intervals.
India posted a huge total of 373 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs and every batter of the team contributed to this huge total as they played with attacking intent from the start. In reply, Srilanka only managed to score 306 runs for the loss of 8 wickets with some brilliant inning from Dasun Shanaka.
Virat Kohli scored a brilliant hundred:
Yesterday, Virat Kohli played one of the best innings where he scored his 73rd hundred of his career which was his 45th in ODI cricket. He scored 113 runs in just 87 balls with a strike rate of 129. It was his consecutive hundred in ODI cricket as in the last match against Bangladesh he scored a hundred as well.
He smashed 12 fours and 1 sixes in his inning and played shots all around the park. Srilanka’s batters were seen as hopeless once Virat Kohli got set. He also broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar of the most hundreds against a single team as he now has 9 hundred against Srilanka which is the most by any batsman.
Dasun Shanaka shoed the game spirit:
A video of the match is getting viral in which Srilanka’s captain Dasun Shanaka showed the sportsman spirit and won everyone’s heart. When Virat Kohli got out for 113 runs in the 49th over he came to Kohli when he was walking back and congratulated him for the century. He also made a handshake with him as well.
