The Senior Selection Committee of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) has selected an 18-member squad for the ODI and T20I series against West Indies.  The three-match ODI series will be played in Ahmedabad from 6 October while the T20 series will be played in Kolkata from 16 February.  Rohit Sharma, who missed the South African tour due to injury, will lead the team.  Former captain Virat Kohli has been kept in both the teams.  Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested while Ravindra Jadeja is still not fully fit and hence has not been picked.

“Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested while KL Rahul will be available from the second ODI only,” BCCI said in a statement issued here.  Jadeja is in the final stages of recovery from a knee injury and will miss the series.  All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has not been selected in the ODI squad due to his poor performance in South Africa.  All-rounder Deepak Hooda has been kept in his place in the team.  Venkatesh, however, has been kept in the T20 squad.  Washington Sundar has also returned to both the squads after recovering from injury while Axar Patel will be available for the T20I series.
