If rain disrupts IPL Playoffs, then the winner will be decided this way know full details

IPL 2022 Playoffs: After 58 days and 70 matches, now the last four matches of the IPL 2022 playoff will be played. After the league stage matches were played in Maharashtra, now the playoff matches will be played in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Table topper Gujarat Titans will take on the Rajasthan team in the first qualifier on 24th May and the Eliminator match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 25th May. Both these matches will be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The second qualifier will be played on May 27 and the final match on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Heavy rains lashed many parts of Kolkata on Sunday (May 22) and the weather is likely to remain rough for the first few days this week. This is not good news from a playoff point of view. In such a situation, there is a concern about the match being organized as per the scheduled time. According to the news of ESPNcricinfo, IPL has prepared some guidelines for matches that are interrupted by rain.

Rain in IPL

The stipulated time interval of each IPL match is 200 minutes, but an additional two hours have been added keeping in mind the possibility of rain. If there is a delay in the start of the match, then both the qualifiers and the eliminator matches can start from 9.40 pm and the final match at 10.10 pm. In this case, not a single over will be reduced.

If it rains till late and it is not possible to play the full match then there will be a 5-5 over match between the teams. There will be no timeout and there will be a break of only 10 minutes between the two innings. During this, the maximum start time of matches in Qualifiers and Eliminators will be 11.56 pm and the end time will be 12.50 am. The maximum starting time of the match in the final will be 12.26 am. If even a 5-5 over match is not possible, then there will be a super over. If there is no Super Over, then the team that tops the points table in the 70 matches of the league stage will be declared the winner.

The final match of IPL 2022 is to start on May 29 at 8 pm. If due to some reason the match is not held on the scheduled day, then 30 May has been kept as a reserve day. There is no reserve day for qualifiers and eliminators. If the match of the final match is stopped for any reason, then the next day will start from there. On the other hand, if there is no match after the toss, then the toss will be held again on Reserve Day.
