Sri Lanka ousted Bangladesh in a thrilling encounter to knock them out of the Asia Cup and cemented their place in the Super 4. It was a do or die match for both the teams in which Sri Lanka won the match by 2 wickets which went till the last over.
In this match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first and Bangladesh batsmen batted hard and all together played a fast innings today and took the team to a huge score. the team had scored 183 runs on the board, which is Bangladesh’s highest score in the Asia Cup.
Going to chase, Sri Lanka got off to a good start and made an opening partnership of 45 runs but after that the team went on losing wickets one by one and the match got very close at the end. After this, when Karunaratne was also out, Sri Lanka must have given up hope as only the bowlers were left after that.
However, Asitha Fernando’s intentions were different and he hit a four off the last ball of the 19th over to tilt the match towards Sri Lanka. After this, Mahish gave a single on the first ball in the last over and he hit another four on the second ball. On the third ball he hit the ground and ran for two runs but the bowler threw a no ball and that is why Sri Lanka won the match.
