The Board of Control for Cricket in India has sacked the selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma. This selection committee also selected the Indian team for the ODI and T20 series against New Zealand and the ODI and Test series against Bangladesh.

Chetan took over the responsibility of the post of Chief Selector in October 2022 in place of Sunil Joshi. During his tenure, India won several bilateral series, but did not find success in major tournaments.
