The Indian team has reached the Super 4 of Asia Cup 2023. In this round, Team India will play its first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on 10th September. Earlier both the teams had faced each other in the group stage. However, that match was canceled due to rain. But Team India batted completely and was reduced to 266 runs. In this inning, Ishaan Kishan performed brilliantly and played an inning of 82 runs in 81 balls, getting the team out of trouble. Ishaan got a chance in place of the injured KL Rahul. But now that Rahul is fit, the biggest question is whether Rahul or Ishaan will play in Super 4’s grand finale.
But as an answer to this question, some such combination is coming out under which both Ishaan and Rahul can get a chance to play. Only Ishan Kishan played in both the group matches against Pakistan and Nepal. The team’s batting did not come in the second match, but in the first match, Ishaan Kishan strengthened his claim and scored more than 50 runs in the fourth consecutive ODI innings. After this, the management of Team India has a headache as to whom to feed between Rahul and Kishan. While announcing the World Cup team, Ajit Agarkar and Rohit Sharma had described this headache as good in the press conference.
How can Kishan and Rahul play together:
Now if we talk about the combination, then how can both Ishaan Kishan and KL Rahul play together in Team India? Shubman Gill had played a half-century innings against Nepal. Prior to that, his form in the ODI format has been under question. Even against Pakistan, Gill was able to score only 10 runs in 32 balls. In such a situation, if Gill is out, then Kishan and Rohit Sharma can open. Ishaan Kishan had opened with Gill even on the West Indies tour. Kishan is continuously performing well. In such a situation, it will not be easy for the team management to make a decision to drop him.
Ishan Kishan’s good form may not be eclipsed:
Ishaan Kishan scored a double-century against Bangladesh in December 2022. After this, as soon as Shubman Gill created a blast, the opening slot was snatched from Kishan. Then he flopped in the middle order. He had poor form for a long time. Then on the West Indies tour, he staked his claim by scoring half-centuries in three consecutive matches. This resulted in Kishan getting a place in the squads for both the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. Now once again due to Rahul’s fitness, his place is in doubt. It has to be seen what is the final decision of captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.
