India captain KL Rahul has been ruled out of the five-match T20I series against South Africa due to injury. The incident happened a day earlier with series opener KL Rahul at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday, and in his absence, Rishabh Pant will lead the team.
Apart from Rahul, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav also injured his right hand while batting on Tuesday evening and will not take part in any of the five matches. Another interesting thing has come to light, the BCCI named Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain for the series.
“All India Senior Selection Committee has appointed wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant as captain and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain,” the BCCI tweeted.
“Team India captain KL Rahul has been ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa due to a right groin injury while Kuldeep Yadav has been ruled out of the T20I series after injuring his right arm while batting at the nets last evening.”
